We love homemade play dough in our house, and my boys and I like to experiment with colors and scents to see what we can come up with. These 8 scented fall play dough recipes are a result of our experiments along the way. We used a variety of easy-to-find items to scent and color our dough from essential oils, to Koolaid, and even herbal tea to give our play dough the yummy factor that makes it unique. We had some failures along the way, but in the end we found all of these to be winners in our play dough collection. Not only are they fun colors, but they smell amazing. Your kids will be thrilled, and you will want to get in on the act with them.
Why Homemade Play Dough?
If you have never made homemade play dough you are missing out. This play dough is soft, and a true pleasure to work with, then to add the yummy smell factor in, you are giving your kids a great sensory learning experience that can’t be beat. If you homeschool there are a long list of ways to use play dough in learning, but even if you just want it for fun, there is hours of play time for your kids. I don’t know about you, but I really dislike the commercial play-doh that you buy at the store. I would dread the moments my kids would request to get it out, as I don’t like the smell or texture of it at all. The store bought kind always seemed to dry out before we could get the play value out of it, and it just wasn’t a fun experience. But then I started making my own, and it redeemed my love for play dough once again. You can make this homemade play dough for about 30 cents a batch. So what’s not to like? Cheap, easy and loads of fun! Here are 8 scented fall play dough recipes to get you started.
