Are you planning on attending any Harvest parties, or Hallelujah Nights?  Maybe you need some last minute harvest costume ideas? No worries.  It can be a lot of fun and stress free to come up with quick and easy fall costumes for the kiddos. With some simple clothing items and a few accessories you can usually whip together a big variety of costumes that will be sure to please everyone.  I hope you enjoy this big list of costume ideas to get you and your kids’ creative juices flowing!

Harvest Costume Ideas

Farmer Costume – Since farmers help reap the harvest, a farmer costume is a perfect idea. Kids can dress up in work boots, a denim pair of overalls and a bandana for the perfect farmer look. Add a nice straw hat to complete the look. The best part is that this costume works wonderfully for both boys and girls.

Harvest Moon Costume:  Another fun costume idea is a harvest moon costume. Use a large cardboard box to cut out two crescent moon shapes. Paint both yellow. Use thick string to attach the two moons so they can hang over the shoulders, making a fun moon costume that is easy to remove. You can even use glow in the dark paint to make the moon glow in the dark.

Cowboys and cowgirls:  Think western theme.  Dress up in plaid shirts and jeans, complete with cowboy hats and boots.  If the girl’s hair is long enough, braid into two pigtails for an extra cute effect.  Other ideas for dressing western style and wear a vest or wear clothing with fringe.  Don’t forget the bandanas!

Space astronauts:  This is a fun costume to make, and the children can help.  Space astronauts look quite snazzy with a little cardboard and some foil.  Take a baseball cap and cover in foil.  Duck Tape can make some neat creations, fashion a belt or a vest.  Wear a pair of gloves and heavy rain boots.

Sports stars:  Do your children have a favorite sport?  Have them dress in the attire.  Ask around for uniforms to borrow, or look in your closets...
